Values to Vision

“Values to Vision” is a teacher-centered project designed to support educators in exploring their evolving pedagogies and articulating their core educational values through visual and cultural representation.

Rooted in the success of earlier initiatives like Playful Engineering-Based Learning (PEBL) and Kheldai Sikdai, this project is part of Dipeshwor's ongoing PhD research. Building on these foundations, “Values to Vision” aims to deepen the transformative potential of creative, value-driven education across Nepali schools.

What the Project Aims to Do

This initiative invites a select group of committed teachers—many of whom have been active participants in past PEBL and Kheldai Sikdai programs—to reflect on their teaching practices and express their values through cultural motifs, visual design, and representational artifacts.

The themes explored throughout the project include:

What We Did

We conducted six in-person Professional Development (PD) workshops, which served as creative and reflective spaces for teachers. Each workshop was carefully designed to:

These sessions culminated in a mini-conference, where each school showcased its final representational artifact and shared their insights with the broader educational community.

The Impact on Teaching and Learning

Through “Values to Vision,” we hope to create ripple effects across classrooms—where teachers feel seen, supported, and inspired. The artifacts created are not just design pieces—they are milestones in each teacher’s professional journey. These visual expressions offer a window into the values, beliefs, and aspirations that shape the learning environments we are working to build together.

A memorable session organized by Dipeshwor and Surya Gyawali as a part of Value to Vision was engaging, fruitful and playful.

The designed session was compatible for all subject teachers. The session enriched us with familiarizing digital skills, design aesthetics, balance in design and a great way of combining teaching and learning. I personally enjoyed and learned throughout the session.

It also enriched and supported my teaching and helped me grow as a professional.

As a trainee teacher, participating in the Values to Vision project was an enriching journey. The sessions familiarized us with new digital skills and revealed deeper layers of educational practice, unveiling the creative side of teaching. The project seamlessly blended art, culture, philosophy, and pedagogy, making every session engaging and thought-provoking. After this training, I believe every participant will walk away with a renewed passion for teaching. A heartfelt thank you to Dipesh sir and Surya sir for crafting such a transformative experience.

Thank you to Karkhana Samuha and the team for organizing the Values to Vision program and giving me the opportunity to participate.

Even though I had no experience in design, after participating in this workshop, I got to explore the basics of design and enhance my understanding of how to present values through visuals. I found this extremely meaningful.

I believe such programs are important and should be conducted regularly to raise awareness and support schools in visualizing their core values more effectively.

I am very happy to have been able to participate in the Values to Vision sessions organized by Dipeshwor Sir and Surya Gyawali Sir, in collaboration with Karkhana Samuha, at our school.

Even though I had little prior knowledge about design, through these sessions I was able to understand the principles of design, balance, aesthetics, and color theory in an engaging and supportive way. My perspective on values and how they can be visually represented has changed.

What I previously thought of as just decorative art, I now see as a powerful communication tool—especially when representing a school’s core values. I’ve realized how important these elements are in classroom learning and school environment.

This program has helped not only in enhancing teaching practices but also in developing reflective thinking.

I look forward to more such enlightening training in the future. Thank you to Dipeshwor Sir and Surya Sir for this wonderful opportunity.
