I'm Surya.
Hello and Welcome to my page. My name is Surya Gyawali. I am a stargazer with a deep passion for physics, space, electronics, and teaching. Since 2016, I have been working at Karkhana Samuha, where I promote hands-on STEAM sessions and design lessons that inspire learning by doing.
I completed my bachelor's degree in Physics and Statistics from Tribhuvan University. My journey as an educator includes developing engaging educational content, working on curriculum development, conducting pedagogical training sessions, and teaching hands-on skills that blend technology and creativity.
In addition to my dedication to science and technology, I am a huge Superman fan—a fitting hero for someone captivated by space and its boundless possibilities.

PhD Research – Design-Based Research **Dec 2024 - Jun 2025 (7 months) ****

Values to Vision is a teacher-centered research project under Dipeshwor's PhD, situated within a Design-Based Research (DBR) framework. It builds on earlier initiatives like Playful Engineering-Based Learning (PEBL) and Kheldai Sikdai, focusing on iterative co-design with teachers to articulate and represent their evolving educational values.
Specifically, we engage a cohort of ten maverick teachers—selected from prior programs—who are deeply committed to evolving their classroom practices.
My Role:
Why It Matters: This project gives teachers the space and structure to reflect, iterate, and represent their values through tangible design. The resulting artifacts are not just personal—they are cultural and pedagogical tools that have the potential to inspire broader educational change.
The work aims to contribute to both local transformation and global conversations through academic sharing, with findings shared through a paper presentation at the International Conference on Quality Education 2025 (ICQE) in Kathmandu.

At Karkhana Samuha, my work in curriculum development has focused on designing engaging, hands-on, and culturally relevant lesson plans aligned with the Nepali school curriculum.
My Role:
Why It Matters:
This work bridges official curriculum objectives with the realities of classroom teaching by centering the voices of educators and learners. Moving beyond rote memorization, the approach fosters joyful, meaningful learning and equips teachers with tools to create inclusive, hands-on learning environments across Nepali schools.
